Week 28: The In-Laws Visit

Yes, I say this ALL the time, but time flies by too quickly.  Where did the weekend go?!

So get ready for a slew of cute Leif photos.  Sorry.  No, I'm not sorry, ha.

Nana feeding Leif the evening they flew in

Independence Day outfit, courtesy of Nana.  Leif woke up early, got him dressed in the outfit that hubs hated and said he didn't want Leif in.  When he awoke and saw him in it, he broke down and said he was super cute.  Ha!

Morning walk on Independence Day, Leif gives it a thumbs up.

Just so cute.

Happiest baby with his Nana and Pop-Pop

I LOVE this smile!

After bath time on Saturday.  He loves being naked

Monday evening=new food: Sweet Potatoes!  He LOVES sweet potatoes.
Alas, Leif has been waking up every hour/hour and a half this week.  We think it's growing pains/teething.  Last night he was back to normal, but normal means waking every three to four hours.  I'm looking forward to the night he sleeps straight...I'm surprised how well I've functioned so far.  I have to give a big thanks to coffee on that one.  And I really don't know how single parents do it...I brought home veggies yesterday to make Leif's food since it's cheaper to make rather than buy.  Leif kept himself occupied here and there, but even though the video I watched said it takes an hour to prepare like three different types of food, it took me over two and a half hours to prepare sweet potatoes alone while watching Leif. And I wasn't able to cook dinner last night (or the night before) until about 8:30ish, when Leif went down to sleep (forgot to mention that hubs was attending his night classes the last couple nights).  But, I still was able to make tons of sweet potato to freeze/refrigerate, I steamed green beans to puree tonight, made steak for dinner, successfully fed Leif and gave him a bath, fed the dog, and EVEN shed a couple pounds this morning!!!  So, I consider all of this a big success.  I'm going to hit the gym on my lunch break, let's hope I don't pass out in the middle of stretching or something crazy.

And now that my 100 days of happiness project is over, I'm not taking as many photos...so hopefully I'll be updating the blog weekly, but if I disappear, my apologies.  Not much is happening in the next couple weeks, but if something exciting does happen I'll be sure to tell you (all three of you???).  :)

Week 27: Happy Independence Day 'Merica!

My well wishes come a day early, but I seriously doubt I'll be posting in my blog tomorrow (seeing how I barely post once a week!).  My in-laws are flying in this morning and I'm excited to celebrate the holiday weekend with them!  And work is a joke today...seriously, half the campus is taking today off, and I doubt any music faculty are coming in-besides our orchestra director, who basically lives in his office.  But he's the nicest one since he lets me go early most the summer since there's nothing for me to do 80% of the time!

So get ready for my previous week in review via photos (and of course, get ready for almost all of them of Leif.  Can't help it, he's so darn cute!):

 Monday, June 23:

Not real food, but getting close!

Tuesday, June 24:

For lunch, a few of us walked over to our usual lunch spot, 3 Amigos-or as Randy tried to change it to 3 Amigas.  :)

After work, I had a follow-up Mary Kay appointment; we did it in the music house since it was easiest for her.  She wanted a natural look with a pop of color for her lips.  I wish I took a before picture, but her skin looks so luminous compared to what it looked like before!

Quick note; Monday marked the one year anniversary when I received the then-terrifying (now most awesome) phone call that I was pregnant.  Note to self: one year goes SUPER fast when you are pregnant/have a baby.  That's probably a good note for all you moms/moms-to-be out there.

Wednesday, June 25:

Hubs and I had to do a dog swap at school since he had his night class, so I decided to take Leif and Miles on a walk around campus.  Half the time Leif put his foot in his mouth.  Such a little goofball.

 Thursday, June 26:

I took my friend Susie out for her belated birthday lunch to Pieology and then got treats at Starbucks. She's such an awesome person-very fun, easy to talk to and super caring.  Yay for Susie!

Our happy baby playing with a new toy daddy got him; which helped him to...

Sit up all on his own!  Go Leif go!
 Friday, June 27:

Happy 6-month birthday Leif!!  His check-up took forever, but Leif managed to not have a meltdown.  AND when he got his shots this time around, he cried briefly but then was okay shortly after!  I was one proud mama!

Saturday, June 28:

Another lazy weekend.  Leif and I played all day, he had a good time.

Sunday, June 29:

Daddy decided to have a little fun with Leif.  He looks like a Disney character!

I think Leif was still a little out of it from his shots on Friday, because immediately after he ate a couple times, he passed out on my lap.  He only does that usually in the middle of the night.  It was really sweet to watch him sleep like this.

Later on we had a Hangout session with my folks so that Leif could show off his sitting up on his own!  He was a little more interested in his toys than the grandparents, but it was still nice to catch up.

And Mr. Miles was in love with daddy all day long; he came curled up next to him on the couch, a rare feat (he usually does this with me!).

And we tried to get his six month photo shoot in on Sunday; these photos turned out well, but for some reason the others with his nice shirt didn't.  We'll have to retake them this weekend!

Monday, June 30:

Leif had his first bath without his bath-chair!  Definitely a very fun, new development for him; scary for me, as I still had to hold him up here and there-slippery baby!

Tuesday, July 1:

Watched the first half of the World Cup game at the gym, which was great because most of it my adrenaline was rushing and I burned about 500 calories on the elliptical machine!  This is me on the treadmill after, cooling down.  Too bad we lost, but surprised we didn't lose as badly as we should have; go Tim Howard!

At dinner time, Leif got to gum up a celery stick.  Probably a really good chewing apparatus for him, as it's easy to hold, strong enough so that he won't chew through it.

Wednesday, July 2:

This was the last day of my 100 Days of Happiness project on Facebook.  Like I said on there, I've learned that 100 days really flies by, so I have to make sure to enjoy every happy moment that I get!  We took these photos in bed after Leif woke up from a long nap/before bed-time.  I love my little family.
