Week 37/38: Last Day of Work!

Hey everyone!

Since this is my last day of work/last day of real internet, I need to update my blog.  I'm telling you, I think I may just break down and purchase crappy internet or I'll go crazy!

I have to hurry with this because I think I'm leaving work soon...

Leif, two years apart.  Look at this cutie pie!  Time flies too fast!  Can't believe he's going to be a big brother soon...

Friday, March 18

It was our student assistant's birthday, so we celebrated with yummy cake.  I think it was half our student assistant's birthdays this month, so baby #2 has been getting LOTS of cake...

Saturday, March 19

I forgot which relative got us this crazy puzzle, but Leif found it and I decided to "help" Leif put it together...and by "help", I mean put it all together myself.  I thought I was good at puzzles, but holy cow this was harder than I thought!  It didn't help that Leif would sit on pieces and mess with them at first, but I think he realized how much I was struggling with it...mid-way through he kind of just watched me and started handing me pieces.  He was a champ.  And I finished it finally!

Before bed Leif wanted to wear his cool hat.

Such a cutie pie.  By the way, hard to see his bedspread, but we finally got rid of our old comforter and gave Leif his own forest/bear comforter.  Definitely cuter and matches his room more.

Sunday, March 20

My parent's Anniversary!  Yay!

We decided to attempt the LA Zoo...but first we needed to get lunch, so we went to our usual place across the way at the Gene Autry Museum.

Leif likes to wipe his own hands/face, and he was putting his napkin in as a bib.  Too cute.

My handsome fellas.  :)
The zoo was a NIGHTMARE.  The regular ticket line was super duper long, and the membership line (we were going to renew ours) was way longer than usual, so we decided to skip it.  I forgot that it was a lot of people's spring break though...duh.  Before checking the zoo we at least let Leif run around in the grass next to the museum:

Courtesy of Hubs...boys love sticks!

Tuesday, March 22

Another Picture Day at Leif's daycare!  Look at how handsome he is!  (and with his favorite breakfast, mini pancakes)

Wednesday, March 23

The Music Department student assistants (with help from staff) decided to throw me a surprise baby shower.  It was super duper sweet and I wanted to cry because of how thoughtful they all were, especially since I've only been here for a few months!

Food spread-everyone pitched in something different.  Missing: yummy mashed potatoes and the best flan I've ever had - student assistants made them and she told me she's making me more when I get back!!!!

We (mostly them while I watched) played a lot of games, and this one entailed estimating how much toilet paper would perfectly wrap around my belly.  Our concert coordinator Karla totally guessed perfectly and won!  This photo is of Bennie who over-estimated...I wanted to guess too and I was way over as well.

Another fun game-team up with another person and get a diaper on a baby with one hand.  The team on the right one the whole thing!  Bennie and I went against them at the end for fun and they totally won...Bennie blamed it on the fact that she used to use safety pins for her babies' diapers...haha.

Another fun game-stuff a balloon in your shirt and then attempt to tie a bow around your shoe bending over at 90 degrees. That was fun to watch!

Here's Karla-she won many games!

Group photos!

Side angle :)

There were still prizes to give away and they were out of games; so I printed one out real fast from Pinterest; baby word scramble.  This was tougher than they thought - look at them concentrate!

At the end they brought out my basket of gifts...lots of really cute clothes and things for baby.  It was so sweet!!!

Me with the student assistants (minus the concert student assistants...)

Thursday, March 24

And here we are this morning-it is my student assistant's birthday who is taking over my previous job until the fall; got her a really yummy cake!
I can't believe this is my last day of work before maternity leave...wish me luck and hoping the baby doesn't come out sooner than it's supposed to!  I'm also hoping I don't have to deal with any more paperwork for maternity leave...it's been a nightmare dealing with my doctor's portion of the paperwork because it takes so long to get anything back from them, and I want to make sure I get paid correctly while I'm out!

BTW...our house is being tented for termites starting today.  We had to double bag most of our food the last couple days and pack for our extended hotel stay.  We get to go back on Saturday, but we want to air out the house so we probably go back, open all the windows and then come back Saturday evening.  It kind of feels like a mini vacation, but a little more work.  Glad I don't have to go to work tomorrow!

I'm hoping I will have some chance to keep you all informed about Baby 2's arrival, but if not, wish me luck everyone!  The next time I update may be with another addition to our family!!!!

37 Weeks: Hmm...

I just realized I title my current pregnancy timeline, but always look back to the previous week-so therefore, I'm posting for Week 36 if that makes sense...?  I'm confusing myself.  Anyway, here is a recap of last week:

Wednesday, March 9:

Hubs ordered our new double stroller a week or so ago, and we changed the box so that Leif could be a "bebot" (his term for robot).  It was pretty cute watching him shuffle through the house.

Thursday, March 10

It was one of my coworker's birthdays on Tuesday but she had taken a couple days off...then she took more days off because she had the flu.  Alas, she wasn't going to be around the whole week and she gave us her blessing to eat her cake.  I had to take a photo before we devoured it!

Saturday, March 12

We did an IKEA run that afternoon...which was sort of a nightmare, but we actually spent less than our last Target trip!  We ate at our favorite Mediterranean place around the corner, but Leif didn't eat much...so after a quick trip to Sprouts, Leif devoured a blueberry muffin. Kid loves pastries.

Saturday nights tend to be movie nights...here's Leif cuddling with me towards the end of "Penguins".  I love when he snuggles with me.  :)

Sunday, March 13

Hubs wanted to take a family trip that day and we decided to hit up Redondo Beach where they were having a "kite festival".  It.  Was.  Not.  Fun.  I know, I know, we can be introverted and not like people, but seriously, this trip was just all around kind of a disaster.  But it had very few good moments...

Hubs took an artsy photo of Leif while waiting for food.

Ocean!

You'd think this kid would love the kites, but nope...he was more interested in sand.  Can't blame him.

This was my favorite kite-hard to see, but it's a pirate ship!

From waiting almost 30 minutes to get seated for lunch to waiting another 30 minutes to get food (Hubs' fish and chips were cold and promptly sent back); from terrible people everywhere to getting barked at by the beach lifeguards for no reason...it was just overall not fun for Hubs and I.  Leif was in good spirits though the whole time (besides being super antsy at lunch).  At least we tried to get out of the house!

Tuesday, March 15

Leif had his first check-up with his new doctor.  He gets a little squirmy/crazy while waiting around, but overall he is such a great patient!

Weighing in a 30 lbs., 1 oz. - around 60% for his age...and 37 inches - approximately 3 FEET - he's in the 89th percentile...we have a tall kid who is already more than half my size.  AT AGE 2...

And here we are today:

Thanks Hubs for buying me the premium app :).  Apparently Baby #2 is around 6.5 pounds and 19 inches long...measuring  "as long as a stalk of Swiss chard".  Always comparing to food...
All of my coworkers think I'm going to deliver early as they know how much I walk and how active I try to be at work.  I am slowing down quite a bit though-I start to get cramps when I walk too fast or get up too quickly!  And thankfully Leif is enjoying walking to and from the daycare entrance-before he wouldn't let go of me and I had to carry him.

Yesterday Leif was a daddy's boy-I'm glad he has a few days here and there that he loves to be around daddy.  I just wish it was more often because it makes both of us very happy!  I'm not saying I don't enjoy the love and attention from my little boy, but I really enjoy seeing all of us happy-and the fact that another little life is joining our family, I'm going to need daddy's assistance big time.  :)

Week 36: Rounding the Corner

What's up Week 36!

I feel like he's more of watermelon, which could be more true...but look at Baby #2 grow!  I can't believe there is less than a month to go...which makes me scared, excited, nervous, anxious, etc.  Cross your fingers he stays in there until closer to the due date and not too soon!

Sorry I haven't updated in a while...new job has been great but very busy.  I like it though, makes time just fly by at work.  Unfortunately by the time I get home I'm exhausted and I feel bad because I want to have energy to play with Leif, but I can't do too much.  I have been nesting like CRAZY (just ask Hubs-I even tried spot-cleaning our carpet the other night while he gave Leif a bath...); but goes with the pregnancy territory!

Here is what's been going on in my world:

Saturday, February 27

My plant in the bathroom was going crazy, so Hubs was sweet enough to hang up the vines more.  I love it!  Now the bathtub feels like an outdoor spa.  :)

Sunday, February 28

Big day for us/Leif-another haircut!

Before haircut: Brunch.  Our hair place is close to my last job, so Leif got in a nice nap before brunch across the street at our favorite place, Mimi's Cafe!

My boys.

Our favorite meals to order-Hubs loves the chicken & waffles and I love the quiches.  Om nom!

Leif was surprisingly a daddy's boy that day.  Rare cuddle moment!

After being very patient, Leif got to sit in his train!  (he kept pointing to it and inching towards it, but we had to wait for this very whiny 3 year-old to finish his haircut)...

Leif is a champ at getting his haircut!

So calm!

Calm even with scissors in his face...I think he's better than daddy when he gets his hair cut!

So handsome!

Success!

My handsome boys!

Reward: playground!

The smell from Cold Stone Creamery was overwhelming...I broke down and treated our family to ice cream/sorbet.

Not the greatest selfie, but I didn't have any photos of me that day, so here I am!  Good 'ole French Vanilla ice cream with just almonds mixed in...mmm....

Tuesday, March 1

Week 35 of pregnancy...I don't know how much more I can grow!

Thursday, March 3

While mommy laid on the couch, daddy and Leif played a few games on the phone.

Another rare photo (thus the blurriness)...unfortunately daddy has to bribe him for kisses: "Do you want to play another game?"  "Yes!" "Okay, you have to give daddy a kiss then"...

Saturday, March 5

Costco day!  We grabbed our favorite Indian food for lunch, waited while Leif napped and watched "Ex-Machina" (pretty decent movie), and then hit up Costco.  OOOH...I forgot to mention a conversation I had with one of Leif's teachers Thursday evening (I promise this will segue into the next photo):

Miss Stephanie: Leif, it's pizza day tomorrow!
Me: Did you hear that Leif?
Miss Stephanie: Leif loves pizza day!
Me: Really?
Miss Stephanie: Yes, when the pizza comes he yells "PIZZZZAAAA!"
Me: Wow, he never gets that excited about food at home!
Miss Stephanie: And he even tries to eat the other kid's pizza!

So we found individual pizzas at Costco.  He doesn't eat the whole thing, but he asked for more so he sort of had two pizzas that night!

Tuesday, March 8

And here we are today.  I found this on my Sprouts app, and today is the last day I have the "premium" trial version-thus the "buy" tag on the corner...

I may just purchase this app just because of the 3D interactive aspect and developmental facts it provides.   Can you believe it-28 more days?!
Like I mentioned, I'm up and down as far as how I feel; mainly exhausted when I get home from work, but overall not too bad.  Hubs had the day off yesterday and did a lot of house cleaning/redesigning of Leif's areas.  He's so sweet.

Back to work I go-happy Tuesday everyone!
