Week 26: Almost Six Months!

Hahahaha....first, enjoy this slow-mo chubby baby video we took at Target...

Leif turns six months this Friday!!!  Six months ago I was impatiently waiting for his arrival...and it was Christmas Eve!  Hubs and I talked about when he's older whether or not we're going to celebrate his half-birthday vs. real birthday since it's so close to Christmas.  Hey, I'm happy he was born AFTER the big Christmas sales!  :D

Week recap!

So active!

Farmer Leif at daycare

Thursday, June 19
My second Stitch Fix box arrived; definitely an improvement in style, fit and cost than my first box.

 Above: my suckerfish baby.

Hope this uploaded correctly, but you can watch/listen to a giggling Leif!

Friday, June 20
Leif rolled onto Miles, and Miles actually stay put.  Good morning!
I had a small Mary Kay party Friday night which turned out to be lots of fun.  I didn't make a lot in sales, but the gals were all so attentive and sweet; and they pointed out things they had learned.  So in a way, I'm still teaching, just not middle school kids who don't practice...

Saturday, June 21

I didn't write much over the week because it really was uneventful besides Leif being so darn cute.  Hubs had to work Saturday morning/afternoon, so I got to spend quality time with Leif.  Oh, I also ran two miles at 5:30am!  I was super proud of myself (and thanks to Leif for waking me up!).

Such a cutie pie who loves his toes. (Outfit #1)

Bumbo action!  (Outfit #2-it was too hot in the other one)

Puts everything in his mouth. (Outfit #3-pooped up the other one)

For a very late lunch/early dinner, we hit up El Torito again (not many other good options where we live).  Here is Leif drumming with his daddy.

 Sunday, June 22

Since Leif is almost six months and Sunday he was hungry almost every two hours, decided to try feeding him a little rice cereal.  First couple bites were successful, but then he just kept spitting out the rest.  It was definitely messy.

Yesterday was uneventful as well, and the rest of the week doesn't look so exciting either.  I did run 2.5 miles at the gym during lunch yesterday, woo!  Soon I'll only be able to run in the gym during lunch and early weekend mornings, it's getting so hot.

Looking forward to July 4th weekend as the in-laws are coming to visit and I get that Friday off!  Let's update the countdown calendar:

9 days: in-laws visit
33 days: our friend Ariel's wedding
50 days: leave for NY
53 days: Barbie's wedding!
67 days: Disney 10K

Week 25: Summertime, and the living is...

Hmm, the living is not quite easy.  But work is definitely quieter.  No complaints there!

Weekly/weekend recap!

Thursday, June 12

After I updated the blog, I got busy working on something I saw on pinterest: a dum-dum tree!  The weekend before I saw this huge bag of dum-dums on sale, so I thought why not try it out.  Turned out pretty awesome!  There aren't many students around to enjoy it, but hey, that means it will last longer.

Friday, June 13

I really think there is something to a full moon that coincides with Friday the 13th.  There were a lot of crazy people out, especially crazy drivers.  But I survived.  It was Leif's last day of care by my friend Angela, and she snapped this photo for me.

After work, Leif and I played on his blanket for a while.  He is so flexible, love how he sucks on his toes!  And his interest in Miles has grown exponentially; he watches him around the room, and tries to touch him.  I snapped some cute photos of Miles and Leif both sucking/chewing on their toys.

Saturday, June 14

Leif woke us up super early again, and I just couldn't handle it Saturday morning.  We all migrated to the living room where I immediately passed out on the couch.  Thankful for the hubs who watched Leif while I was out...I awoke frantically almost two hours later thinking I left Leif in his exersaucer the whole time.  But of course hubs had already rocked him to sleep and Leif was down for a nap.  Phew.  I don't know what I'd do without him.

Once we had breakfast we took Miles to the dog park; little did we know they were having a "Touch A Truck" event at the park.  We had to park way far away from the dog park which was good for us, since we got a good walk in.  It was already hot at 10:30am, so we didn't stay too long at the park, but long enough for Miles to get some exercise in!  After that, we really didn't do much except lounge around the apartment.  Lazy Saturday!

My cool boys

Leif loves being on his daddy's shoulders!
 Sunday, June 15

Again, I don't know if I will ever express just how much I appreciate Matt for being a great father.  The BEST!  Yay for Father's Day!  And I love my pa so much, he is absolutely wonderful.  I don't know if I'll ever find someone as patient and loving as my dad.  Yay for dads!

Courtesy of my brother :)
For a dad's day celebration, I took Matt and Leif to Claim Jumper where they have the most AWESOME buffet brunch I've been to.  I think it's better than Salty's in Seattle, and that one is twice as much as the one we went to!  And after that, we watched bad action movies at home.  It was a nice day.
Leif puts everything in his mouth now...
 Monday, June 16

Leif's first day at his new daycare.  He had a blast while work for me was a little on the boring side...
Super cute!
And didn't do much after work except make dinner and get ready for today.  While we ate dinner, Leif was a flipping machine-he loves to roll from back to front now, and does it with ease!
He WAS on the Jungle Mat.  He rolled completely off!
And here we are today.  My goal is to run during lunch today, although it's already warming up!  Argh.  If it's too hot, it's gym time!

And this is how fast time flies...my friend Barbie is getting married in less than two months!  Which means we are flying to New York in less than two months...wow!  And Leif is six months in 10 days!!!  I think this time last year I still didn't know I was pregnant.  But I'm just so delighted with Leif, life is much more fulfilling with him around.

Week 24: Sleep Deprived

Hey y'all-coming to you a little sleep deprived...Leif decided to wake me up at 3am again.  And no, he didn't want to go back to sleep no matter how much I fed/rocked him.  Took him about an hour at least to fall back asleep, uggghghghgh.  I don't know what's triggering the 3-4am wakings, but I dread it now.  I'm looking forward to the day he sleeps throughout the night (which with my luck will be when he's a teenager)...

On top of it all I've still been trying to stay fit and healthy.  Here's my week in pictures before I dive into anything:

Tuesday, June 4: Hit the gym for the first time in a looooong time!  It felt great!  I even took Leif and Miles for a walk when I got home while hubs was in his first class (which he said felt fine, no worries!).  Leif was being silly, not sure why he wanted a fist bump...

Thursday, June 5: My third Mary Kay party was great with a few co-workers (one gal had to leave early, so there was a total of four).  I honestly really enjoy being an Independent Beauty Consultant for Mary Kay!

Friday, June 6: Funny day...so it was really foggy in the morning and turned my lights on.  Since my electrical panel in my car is all screwy, I didn't realize I left them on....so at lunch I hopped in my car to get to the gym, car didn't start.  Wah waaaah.  I took it as a sign that I needed to be on foot, so I ended up taking a jog instead: 2.71 miles!  That's the most I've done in fooooreeeeeever.  Granted I ran for 1.5 then walked/jogged the rest, but that's an accomplishment for me!  And I wasn't worried about my car, my co-worker was able to jump my battery.  Phew.

Saturday, June 7: Hubs had to work, so I got to spend the day with Leif and Miles.  Have I told you how flexible Leif is lately?  He can't sit up or crawl yet, but he sure can put his toes in his mouth!  And loves it!

Once hubs got home, we decided to try out a BBQ place we didn't know existed.  Leif used his jogger for the second time (and yes, that's a new onesie-he got a little poop on the other one)...overall not bad. AND I was trying to be healthy and got chicken breast and an all-you-can-eat salad bar, which I only visited once, but loaded my plate with tons of veggies.

Sunday, June 8: Leif is such a happy baby!  I love his big grin and giggles, makes my heart melt.

Skip to Wednesday, June 11: Happy Leif again, photo taken by his daddy

No real photos but I ended up running 3 miles on Tuesday (ran about 2, walked/ran the last mile)...when I finished super sweaty and exhausted, I thought, "And I'm supposed to do at least two of those in a couple months?!?!"  Seriously, that's a lot of running for me.  But I think I'm on the right path as far as training for the 10K.  And I've heard that the Disney characters are throughout the park cheering you on and runners stop to get photos with them, so I have a feeling I won't be racing through the park trying to track my pace...

Yesterday I hit the gym after work, waiting for hubs to meet me at school to do the baby-switch.  I ended up also taking a half hour walk with Miles and Leif around campus.  So yay for being fit!

We had a little freak-out yesterday when hubs and I were chatting about childcare for Leif.  That is probably THE most expensive part of raising a baby/kid-granted you are entrusting your baby's life to another human being, and I know how hard being a nanny/babysitter can be...but wow, it costs a lot.  We've had it really lucky so far with our two friends, but one friend will be having her third baby in August and the other we can't really rely on daily, so I did some researching.  I found a great in-home childcare and met her yesterday after our campus walk-I think she's perfect!  She's a grandmother of six, but super bubbly and full of energy.  She has a super nice house, a HORSE on an acre of property, lots of toys, cubbies for each kid, a room with four cribs and everything you need to take care of babies.  She's currently watching a three month old so Leif will have a playmate!  Best part is she's not expensive.  Phew.  It's still going to cost us $$$, but not as much as if I took him to my school childcare.  He will be full-time at the childcare because it's just cheaper that way, and also when hubs isn't working he can do his reading/homework for classes.  Win-win!

So Happy Father's Day to my Pa/Pa-in-Law and my hubs, his first!  I don't know how single parents do it, I would be completely lost without Matt.  He's such a great dad (I knew he would be seeing as he was/is a baby magnet), and I love him so much!  Make sure to tell your dads you love them on Sunday!

Week 23: Folks Visit

Has it already been a week???  I felt like I blinked and it jumped from Tuesday, May 27 to Tuesday, June 3.  Crazy.

My folks are already flying out today-it was really nice having them back!  Here is my week in review:

Wednesday, May 28

Co-workers took me out for a belated birthday lunch celebration to Sumo Sushi...I seriously haven't had sushi since my last birthday!  It was SO good.

And my folks flew in Wednesday night and came bearing dinner.  :)

 Thursday, May 29
My folks watched Leif while Matt and I worked.  They were over the moon to spend so much time with Leif!

Friday, May 30

Matt didn't have to go to work, but had work to do at home so he hung out with Miles and Leif.

Leif is starting to notice Miles a lot more-here he is holding hands with him!

We had planned on doing a movie-date night Friday night while the folks watched Leif, but the movie we wanted to watch didn't start until late so we decided to grab dinner with the folks instead.  Chinese food, yum!
BTW...doesn't my mom's skin/face look glowing and beautiful???  I did a Mary Kay facial on her before dinner.  :)

Of course my mom gave him stuff to put in his mouth.  Empty spoon, just glad there's nothing on it.

Aaaand a fortune cookie in its wrapper.  I don't know if I'd rather him suck on the cookie or dirty plastic, yikes.

Saturday, May 31

No plans before my Mary Kay party, so it was nice to relax Saturday morning with Leif while Matt worked at home.
Lounging in bed, sucking his thumb.  The good life.

FIRST sippy cup action!

After my Mary Kay party, folks came over while hubs and I went and watched X-Men in 3D.  Awesome movie!

Sunday, June 1

Lazy Sunday while folks visit relatives...
Sunday morning lounging with daddy.  Don't they look exactly alike???

Costco run boredom.

"Are we done yet?!"

My mom found a leftover See's Chocolate Cigar from when Leif was born.  Don't worry, it's still in the wrapper!

Monday, June 2

I still went to work but I took off early to be with my folks.  I had dropped Leif off with them at their hotel room and they were again super happy to see him.  We went to Souplantation for lunch and then walked around the outside mall in Simi Valley.

Gymboree sunglasses, too cool.

When we got home I played with Leif for a little on the ground.  He is starting to make himself giggle.  It's so darn cute.

He rolls tummy to back, but he's still practicing rolling back to tummy-haven't seen him do it.  YET!

And he did reach another milestone-he was able to put his foot in his mouth!

So happy over his feet and toes.
And here we are today.  Please keep Matt in your thoughts-today he starts his first class in the Professional Development Program.  He's been nervous about going back to school, and on top of it all has a full work week.  We won't see him until 10:30pm tonight and same for tomorrow.  I know he'll be great and we remind ourselves that this is all for Leif.

As for me today, I'm going to the gym for the first time in about 7-8 months!  I'm going to slip it in during my lunch break, and hoping it's one of many visits as it's about time to start training for my 10K in August.  I wish I had more energy weekend mornings-I'd like to start running, but it's so hard to get up before it gets sweltering hot.  I can do it!!!
