9 Months, 26 Days: Moved!

I highly recommend getting movers if you have to move.  Seriously.  I don't know how we would have gotten from Point A to Point B within such a short amount of time.  Yay, we are all moved!!!  Well, almost...we have one more trip to Canyon Country today, just to finish a little bit of cleaning and to retrieve cleaning supplies, vacuum and odds and ends.

I wish I took more photos of the move, but alas, I got zero.  Moving day was filled with driving Leif to our friend's house early in the morning, packing up the rest of our stuff (which we have WAY more stuff than we realized), then packing some more while the movers worked.  We bought an Amazon Deal for 3 hours, 3 movers and 1 truck...it took 4 1/2 hours to move.  Seriously took 2 1/2 hours to get everything down to the truck, 30 minutes to get there, then 1 1/2 hours to unpack.  They were great though, so happy to hire them!

So we are a mix of super happy and bummed about the move.  Here it is in list form, just because I'm weird and OCD like that...

HAPPY!
-So much space!  Miles loves the fact that he can run from Leif's bedroom all the way to the end of the living room in one long, straight line.
-Neighbors seem to be really nice-on one side it's an older couple who are Scandinavian, very sweet but mind their own business.  The other side is a Mexican family who mind their business, but aren't as friendly...at least they aren't mean.
-My commute is so awesome!  We do face this crazy, windy road for a few miles if we want to go west on the freeway (towards my work), but I've gotten used to it.  It's really not as bad as I first thought it would be.  Monday was super foggy and even then I had an easy time.  I'd rather face the crazy windy road than the multitude of freeways and bad drivers I faced coming from Canyon Country.  And I can leave at 7am instead of 6:30/6:40am and get to work with some time to spare!
-It's so quiet (this is a bummer too, more on that later)...

bummer
-It's so quiet.  Almost TOO quiet.  We just aren't used to it yet; the first few nights we had to have music on/white noise because we're so used to hearing Leif's white noise machine/fans/people.  I think it freaked us out the first night because we heard Miles whining in his crate in the middle of the night, and we didn't know why.  After that I don't think we slept well.  And now that Leif is in his own room, we are a little more worried.  BTW, sleep training is not really happening...yet.  I've gotten up in the middle of the night a few times every night to nurse him back to sleep, and by early morning I'm just so tired he comes and sleeps with us for the last couple hours.  More about that in another post...
-Everything is practically broken!  When I was talking to our nice old lady neighbor, I told her how they left the place kind of dirty, and she said it was way worse before!  So whoever lived there before us just didn't take good care of it.  We made a long list of problems and sent an email to the manager, hoping the ONE maintenance guy they have would come sooner than later.  Just to name a few, the screen door on the front door is barely hanging on-it's broken, won't close and the screen is taped on.  One of our banisters on the porch is a light tap away from falling over.  There is no hot water in the guest bathroom shower (which is a way better shower than the master bathroom one...hubs is seriously afraid of the master bathroom.  I like it, it just needs better lighting).  Windows barely open in the living room, and two of them don't stay open.  There's so much more going on.  But I keep saying to myself "it's a house.  And the rent is good for being a house."

That's basically it.  I'm honestly way happier here than anywhere we've been in California so far.  I think once we are settled in and not living amongst boxes/chaos, we'll settle in.  Apparently the maintenance guy is over there right now since hubs is home waiting for the Direct TV people to come.  He said Jose is way more nice than he thought he'd be.  And so far after work I've taken Miles and Leif on walks around the neighborhood; the streets are narrow, but people drive really slow.  I enjoy looking at all the different little houses and their layouts.  People love Halloween around our neighborhood!  I want to decorate before it's too late.  I bet Christmas is even better.  :)

Okay, I leave you all with your weekly Leif dose:

Friday, October 17 - Leif loves being on his daddy's shoulders

Sunday, October 19 - Leif's own room!

Tuesday, October 21 - At daycare.  He loved the fake piggy bank!

Tuesday, October 21 - Thanks Nana for the cool Halloween outfit!  At home, still unpacking...

Wednesday, October 22 - This morning before we left for work.  Thanks Nana for the Mickey sweatshirt!  Daycare lady asked where he gets such cute clothing; I said his Nana loves him very much.  :)
