Oh Monday, I wish you were a part of the weekend.
Leif is 10 months old today! His top two teeth are charging down, one larger than the other. He's a trouble seeker-I throw out all his toys in front of him in the living room, but of course he makes a beeline for outlets. Or the blinds. Or the 10-pound weight sitting on top of Miles's toy box, which he managed to grab and pull off the box. He's strong and fast.
Last week went by quickly, and before I knew it I had my second quartet rehearsal Friday afternoon. It really does feel good to play again, and the bari sax is so responsive (although was taken to the shop due to the student who uses it whacked the lower stack out of place, as well as scratched it up so badly in one spot), but I'm not a fan of playing with the people Dan had played with for so long. They're definitely jazz guys, and the alto player does this crazy vibrato that makes him sound flat. It's terrible. Anyway, I've decided that the time/effort it takes to play with this group is just not worth it. I'm not getting paid, we don't have any gigs/concerts lined up, I have to pay extra for Leif's daycare, and the soprano player wants me to rehearse more. And he has a bad attitude. And playing an instrument that isn't mine is uncomfortable-I can't take it home, and I have to find time out of my days at work to practice. Too many cons out-way the pros on my mental checklist. I just have to muster up my confrontation skills and tell Dan face to face that I just can't do it-almost resorted to email, but that's too impersonal, especially since I work with him every day. Sigh.
Let's see, highlights of the week-we purchased a used washer and dryer for the house yesterday. Phew! Our laundry is piling up. I did some projects, but did not complete them (you'll see in photos shortly); and I made the best crockpot dish yesterday (Pork Carnitas!!!). It took a while to trim the Pork Shoulder, but it was so worth it.
And here's your weekly photos!
Wednesday, October 22: Our empty town home in Canyon Country. Last visit ever, good riddance Canyon Country and your crazy people! We will not miss you. |
Thursday, October 23: First string cheese and loved it! |
Om nom nom. |
Thursday, October 23: While cleaning up Leif's room, Leif found a hanger more interesting than his box of toys. |
Friday, October 24: Leif loves bath time...and lately he's been, uh, touching himself! Thus the star. He's going to hate me one day for posting this photo, I already know it. |
Saturday, October 25: Mr. Leif loves to climb into Miles's crate now, even with Miles in it. |
Sunday, October 26: Before our washer/dryer search, we stopped at a Thai restaurant. Leif was in super good spirits! |
Food was amazing! |
So here is one of my projects I'm working on... |
Spray painting dollar store skulls and then I will paint them for Dia de Los Muertos. Let's hope I finish them before Halloween! |
And here's a large table we had sitting out on our balcony for so long it got dirty; so I cleaned it then spray painted it and will go in our bonus room-Hubs's Game Table! |
And this is a nightlight I picked up from the Dollar Store for Leif's room. It's really awesome. |
Happy early Halloween everyone! I hope you all have a fun weekend. We don't have any plans really; our neighborhood is really decorated and I think at our clubhouse they're throwing a Halloween party tomorrow. All I know is that Leif has an awesome costume, he's too young to go trick or treating, but will wear the costume all day Friday. :) Work has a costume contest but isn't throwing a contest for decorations this year; instead they chose to have a contest for Christmas decorations. I'll take photos of me in costume, but not sure if we'll decorate for Christmas seeing as I'm the only staff person and we all leave before Christmas anyway. Anyway, I'm just excited to watch Halloween movies/shows all week! Yay!
